Face Lift
FACE LIFT – MAN – RHYTIDECTOMY
Lifting of the face, also known as a facelift is the ideal procedure to restore traction to facial tissues and make the face youthful, eliminating signs of fatigue and giving harmony and freshness to the face. In fact, with ageing, the face no longer produces elastin, a substance that gives tone and elasticity to facial tissues-and the first wrinkles and skin folds appear. A wrong diet or excessive sun exposure could, likewise, cause the process of senile decay.

FACE LIFT – MAN: THE PROCEDURE
Facelift has an average duration of ten years: the tissues, in fact, continue the regular process of genetic aging. The patient who undergoes face lifting surgery for the second time does so to correct the surrounding areas that appear less natural because they were not done during the first surgery.
The face lift performed on the SMAS muscle system needs only a few touch-ups because it is a deep surgery. On the contrary, the patient who performed only muscle traction will need to undergo surgery after a few years.
The operation has an average duration of 2h, after which rest is recommended. Gauze will be applied for as long as 48h at the end of which the doctor will change dressings, in accordance with his team of specialists.
The physician will recommend a correct sleeping position for the patient, using two to three pillows that promote blood circulation and allow fluids to be drained.
The supine position, together with the use of pillows, also promotes rapid deflation of the treated area. In the first few days, the use of dark glasses to conceal swelling is recommended. This will facilitate healing of the scars.
FACELIFT – MAN: MEDICAL-SURGICAL EXAMINATION
Before surgery, the patient will be visited by the Physician who will explain the process of the surgery. The surgeon will try to retrace the lines of the face, so that they are harmonious overall. He will then check the degree of elasticity of the skin: the patient will be able to make requests, and the physician will check the possibility of surgery.
The face lift does not have to be an operation that will change the physiognomy of the face in its entirety, but has the function of correcting defects and restoring balance to the facial profile.
If the demands are unrealistic, the procedure will not be performed by the physician at all.
FACELIFT – MAN: ANESTHESIA
During face-lift surgery, there is no use of general anesthesia, but rather local or intravenous anesthesia, so as to avoid the dangers associated with it. After face-lift surgery, the patient will be able to return to a normal social life, thanks to the use of anesthesia performed locally and not in full.
The patient, on the operating table, is treated with an effective anesthesia that eliminates the sensation of pain. It is introduced through a vasoconstrictor to prevent bleeding and thus allow the physician to work gently.
At the end of the operation, the patient returns to normal social life, without the feeling of heaviness and fatigue due to full anesthesia.
FACE LIFT – POST-OPERATIVE
It is normal that following the surgery, the face will be swollen. After the operation, the patient will be dressed with a special bandage that will be removed after 48h, by the surgeon and his team.
The patient may experience discomfort in the ear area, which is red, hard and sensitive. The Physician will prescribe the appropriate treatment to eliminate these discomforts.
